Eye on the Oscars: Wrap 2005: The race for Oscar started with 267 films vying for the attention of the 5,808 voting members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. After a season of screenings, debates, media campaigns, publicity events, critics’ lists, awards banquets and bakeoffs, the field has narrowed to 114 nominations in 24 categories whose fate will be announced the globally telecast ceremony Feb. 27 at the Kodak Theater.
